Finally sold my long-serving bass amp after having it for more than 30 years. It seemed pointless to keep it now I have my excellent little Gallien-Krueger amp. Enjoy it Greg 😢
Test drive (and download) songs from all of Neil's CDs in the Band Camp player below. :)

Swimming In Mud
A couple of levels of meaning here - the obvious is that it's about Sydney. I lived there for a long while, and although we have some family and some very old friends there still, it is no longer a place where I am happy. Cities have just become too hard for me. You can figure out the big and small alternative interpretations for your selves :)
Just me and Levi the drummer this time.
© 2016 Neil PorterIt’s big and it’s dirtyLike a river in floodJust like driving in trafficIt’s like swimming in mudI was drowning in quicksandI was going down slowI’ve been swimming upstreamWith nowhere to goI was simmering slowlyNot quite boiling my bloodI stopped taking the tabletsI came down with a thudDrowning in quicksandI was going down slowI’ve been swimming upstreamWith nowhere to goChorus:Not going back to Sydney anymoreDon’t want to visit places where I used to go beforeI can do without the harbour and the locks upon my doorAin’t going back to SydneyAnymoreSOLOI’ve been burning my bridgesI’m not easily ledWhile my heart keeps on beatingThen you’ll know I’m not deadI was drowning in quicksandI was going down slowI was swimming upstreamWith nowhere to goThere’s no train at the stationThere’s no room at the innYou can lose yourselfIn the city of sinIf I’m drowning in quicksandI’ll be going down slowI’ve been swimming upstream
With nowhere to go
